TBC Racing has no official relationship with the Thompson Boat Center.

TBC Racing is an organization whose dual purpose is to provide racing support at regattas held offsite of Thompson Boat Center property, and to provide a social network for individuals who choose to engage in the sport of rowing in the Washington, DC area, and beyond.

TBC Racing provides support for rowers at regattas held away from Thompson Boat Center and National Park service Property. Racing support includes providing logistical support for moving equipment and athletes to and from regattas, providing food and housing coordination, and arranging continuity of coaching while at away regattas. While most members come from the Thompson Boat Center (a division of Guest Services Inc, a concessionaire of the National Park Service) Competitive Programs, it is not a requirement. TBC Racing has numerous members who choose to not train at the Thompson Boat Center, and likewise there are members of the Thompson Boat Center programs who choose not to compete with TBC Racing.

The ability for local athletes to get together and share common interests and activities is an essential element to the enjoyment of athletics and the sport of rowing. This is why coordination and enhancement of these gatherings and activities is another essential function of TBC Racing. These activities and gatherings, of both large and small scale, all take place away from the Thompson Boat Center and off of National Park Service property. These activities and gatherings range from small program-specific gatherings, to our large all inclusive end-of-year banquet.

TBC Racing is currently seeking non-profit status. We conduct no business at the Thompson Boat Center, and charge no money for activities within the park. All rowing at the Thompson Boat Center is controlled and administered by Guest services Inc, a concessionaire of the National Park Service.
